A view from the Rough ⛳️

Sanding greens is a crucial process to maintain superior quality putting surfaces.
The sand does many things, a big one is it fills in all the little blemishes from cleat marks, ball marks, and other stresses in the turf.
The solution to pollution is dilution! The pollution and this regard is all the organic matter that accumulates in the roots zone from the grass. Consistently adding small doses of clean sand helps maintain a good soil profile that allows drainage, soil oxygenation, and a firm putting surface.
A firm teeing ground allows for a perfect start to a new hole. All of the same principles of the sand on the green applies to the tees.
There’s no better time to apply nutrients than when we sand! It all gets watered in the following night.
Due to our poor irrigation water quality we are constantly applying a high potassium base fertilizer to the golf course. The elevated levels of potassium will help disassociate the detrimental dissolved sodium applied via the irrigation water off the soil colloids that hold nutrients. Potassium and sodium are very similar in molecular weight so the grass doesn’t know, or gets to choose, which one it gets. Whichever one is in highest concentration wins! Lots of sodium means 📉 in quality & lots of potassium means 📈 in quality. Simple as that.
Ever wonder why rain makes everything look so good? Well, rain water has no “bad stuff” in it so it flushes out the soil and the grass drinks up pure water. Also, lightning creates a little bit of nitrogen, which dissolves into the rain, and the rain actually fertilizes the course a little bit.
