The name seems benign, maybe even a little cliche, but Florida’s leadership role in developing a Golf Course Best Management Practices manual has been critical in defending golf from the constant attacks of summer fertilizer use ban proponents.
Even today, stake holders are meeting with Collier County representatives to discuss upcoming legislation regarding fertilizer ordinances.
The Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America has set a goal of getting a Best Management Practices manual for all 50 states by 2020. They’re close and working hard!
