There are a couple places around the golf course you are going to see these new plants in the waste areas. These plants are to divert traffic around valve boxes and electrical splice boxes. The round top is for an isolation valve. More importantly, the larger rectangular box is an electrical splice box for the irrigation control system that has the splices mounted to the bottom of the lid. As the carts occasionally run over these boxes, the vibration is causing connection problems and I lose communication from the irrigation central computer to the individual sprinkler heads. This is the nervous system for water control. Beneath those lids are wires that connect every sprinkler head’s network I.D. card to the irrigation control system. All those splices are critical to turn heads on and off at the right time, one bad connection disables 100’s of heads.
